TRENDS AND DYNAMICS OF THE SCHOOL POPULATION IN THE ROMANIAN PRE-UNIVERSITY SYSTEM

Abstract


The school population in Romania has experienced significant transformations in recent decades as a result of demographic, social and economic developments. In the context of demographic decline and external migration, the pre-university system is facing a constant reduction in the number of students, which influences the planning of educational resources, class structure and development strategies of educational institutions. This paper presents the study of trends and dynamics of the school population, which thus becomes essential in understanding the impact of these changes on education, as well as for formulating educational policies adapted to the real needs of society. The main method used was the collection of data from official publications, their processing and interpretation. The analysis of the evolution of the school population allowed the identification of determining factors, the evaluation of short-term and long-term effects, and the outline of measures to support the sustainability of the Romanian pre-university system.
