ROMANIAN RURAL ECONOMY-FEATURES AND PERFORMANCES
Abstract
In the context of the current Romanian economy, the rural environment and its specific activities occupy a central place, which is why the topic of this paper is an actual one.Agriculture is a sector with considerable potential, occupying, by tradition, an important place in the structure of the Romanian economy. It is an important factor of social stability and maintaining ecological balance; is the branch that provides food for the population and significant quantities of raw materials for the food and other non-food industries. For Romania, rural area, both in size and structure and in functionality, has a particular importance, so in the paper are pursued some aspects: Evolution of rural area-tendencies, The structure of the rural economy, Structure of agricultural holdings by size and utilized agricultural area, Structure of agricultural holdings from Romania by economic size, The distribution map of large agricultural holdings.
