ASSESSMENTS UPON ROMANIAN AGRI-FOOD PROCESSING SECTOR: STRUCTURE AND EVOLUTION IN THE FOREIGN TRADE

Abstract


The research investigated the impact of EU accession upon the competitiveness of Romanian agri-food processing sector. Statistical analysis method have been used based on relevant trade indicators. Romania is a net exporter of agricultural commodities, but over two decades, performed as an importer of processed products. The main results indicate weak competitiveness of the Romanian processing sector, while only tobacco achieved an increasing positive trade balance.
