DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL TOURISM THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A LEISURE COMPLEX (SWIMMING POOL AND RESTAURANT) IN NITCHIDORF, TIMIS COUNTY

Abstract

The paper analyzes the development of rural tourism in Nițchidorf, Timiș County, through the implementation of a leisure complex that includes a swimming pool and a restaurant, as a model of good practice for diversifying the rural economy. The study starts from the necessity of revitalizing rural communities through sustainable investments that create jobs, improve local infrastructure, and capitalize on existing natural and cultural resources.

The research highlights how Nițchidorf has evolved in recent years due to the growing interest in weekend tourism and local leisure activities. Investments in infrastructure, the involvement of local authorities, and the emergence of entrepreneurial initiatives have contributed to positive local dynamics. The proposed project aims to strengthen this trend by providing a modern recreational space that attracts both nearby residents and urban visitors.

The main identified benefits are economic (job creation and stimulation of local entrepreneurship), social (enhanced community cohesion and improved quality of life), and environmental (promotion of ecological and energy-efficient infrastructure).

The project’s marketing strategy is based on promoting local identity and the Banat region’s cultural heritage through online campaigns, partnerships with regional tourism agencies, and the organization of thematic events. Thus, the complex becomes not only an economic investment but also a tool for tourism promotion and for consolidating Nițchidorf’s local brand.

The paper demonstrates that, through an integrated approach to rural development management and the effective use of European funds, rural localities can become viable examples of sustainable development and regional tourism attractiveness.
