Abstract

The Timișoara Waterworks Plant, built at the beginning of the 20th century,
stands as a symbol of urban modernization and technological progress. Beyond its technical function, the site embodies a form of communication between past and present a dialogue expressed through architecture, materiality, and collective memory. This paper explores how industrial heritage communicates identity and continuity within the urban landscape, focusing on the Waterworks Plant as a case study of cultural and visual communication. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining heritage studies, urban semiotics, and communication theory, the study emphasizes how architectural heritage can transmit values, evoke emotional responses, and foster civic engagement in contemporary society.
