Abstract

The statistics of the last two years highlight the changes in the choice of travel, tourism being strongly influenced by this pandemic period. We can say that the pandemic has produced significant changes in tourism and continues to do so: many tourists accustomed to traveling on vacation abroad, are reoriented to local tourism, rural, close to nature, close to home, which is a trend at the moment and can even become a long-term habit. The effects of this activity generate benefits   for local economy, to the repopulation of the area and to the revitalization of the local crafts.

Although Romania has a significant tourist potential, through its natural environment, but also the traditional Romanian village, as an integral part of rural tourism, it is necessary to better promote it as a rural destination for foreign tourists.

Thus, the need to concentrate the effort of several actors involved, especially the zonal communities, for the development and promotion of rural tourism, especially agrotourism, at local level is highlighted.
