Abstract

The digital divide marked the separation of rural area and economic activities for years yet as the present study and the project it cites (WiseFarmer) reveals it no longer stands and acts as a limitation in Europe and developed countries while it still represents a major road-block for the developing countries. Nowadays farmers and rural entrepreneurs are using the digital tools and apps as a relative current part in their activities and as results show, unexpectedly high level of digital knowledge is found particularly for the fast half of the farmers’ generations. The current use of applications, although rarely for dedicated applications in agriculture has the professional trait needed for the healthy grounds of further growth and adoption. Farmers are rather keep to accumulate new knowledge about the digital tools and applications and their use and the options of training they express are very much up-to-date and certainly oriented towards active and blended learning including the remote delivery.
