THE EVOLUTION OF THE ROMANIAN CARD MARKET AND IT’S DEVELOPMENT TRENDS

Abstract


The card represents a payment instrument, applicable and globally acceptable, a superior alternative to the classical means of payment in terms of efficiency and facilities, which has the purpose to approach and develop the relationship between the client and the bank. The paper presents the evolution of the card market in Romania, taking in consideration that that card payments have increased in recent years, both in terms of the number of transactions and the value of transactions. The trend is rising as a result of the contactless transactions, which are an important engine for the growth of the card payment market in Romania, pleasing the Romanians who enthusiastically accepted this payment method. The methods used by the authors to support the research consisted in collecting data from different sources, analysis, graphic representation and comparative analysis.

The conclusion that arises is that this payment instrument, the bank card, represents the one of the most popular technologies that has finally entered in the family of electronic payment instruments, and in recent years we have been witnessing to an increase in the number of payments with the card, globally supported by the growing trust of the consumers.
